Building Dreams Together: Habitat’s 2025 Vision

The new year will bring exciting milestones for our organization. Key among them are more new homes for hardworking local families and the 30th anniversary of Habitat for Humanity of Summit and Wasatch Counties!

Read on to learn more about Habitat 2025 plans and how you can be a part of them.

The Importance of Affordable Housing

Affordable housing was the top issue for Utah voters in 2024, according to a recent study from Sutherland Institute/Y2 Analytics. The lack of housing options and a rise in home costs explain why. Utah has been ranked as the “most unaffordable state for blue-collar workers to buy an entry-level home,” according to a recent Deseret News article, reporting on statistics presented by housing policy expert Edward Pinto, co-director of the American Enterprise Institute’s Housing Center.

Recent trends in housing affordability, including a focus on sustainability and energy efficiency, aim to address these financial obstacles through benefits, including reduced utility bills and maintenance costs. These trends are strongly in line with Habitat’s strategic approach to addressing the lack of affordable housing in our community through sustainable building practices and building and retrofitting energy-efficient homes

Our Plans for Habitat 2025

In the new year, Habitat will continue its work in Silver Creek Village in Park City, embarking on another 10-plex of homes in this community. Habitat began creating affordable homes here in 2019 and sees more opportunities ahead.

At the Park City ReStore, the team is looking to enhance their services and processes to better support ReStore customers, donors, volunteers, and staff. The team is looking toward partnerships with real estate agents, contractors, and local businesses to increase store offerings and support Habitat’s homeownership program.

The 30th anniversary of Habitat for Humanity of Summit and Wasatch Counties will bring with it special events and celebrations to mark this important milestone. Stay tuned to find out more as plans are revealed.
