Fall Into Action: How to Volunteer with Habitat for Humanity This Season

As we approach the winter holidays, we start to think about ways we can spread joy, give thanks, and support our local community. Volunteering with Habitat for Humanity of Summit and Wasatch Counties offers a variety of opportunities for you and your family, friends, neighbors, clubs, or business to get involved and truly make a difference.

What better way to get into the holiday spirit than to volunteer at our annual Holiday Tree Show & Auction! Join us to decorate a tree or gingerbread house, or to plan, promote, or work at this festive fundraiser. All proceeds from this event will benefit housing affordability in our community. Read on for all the details on how to get involved.

Become a Holiday Tree Show Volunteer

Do you love trimming the tree for the holidays? Sign up to decorate a tree that will be put on display at Habitat’s holiday tree show event, Celebrating Home. The tree will then be auctioned off to raise money for Habitat for Humanity.

If gingerbread houses are more your style, you can also build and decorate a house at this year’s event, along with menorahs and other holiday symbols. These will also be displayed at the holiday tree show and then auctioned off.

Designs can be nostalgic, whimsical, or more avant garde – whatever you or your team’s creative minds can dream up. We encourage participants to embrace this year’s theme, Celebrating Home, as you come up with your concepts. This decorator information has all the info you need to help you prepare your holiday masterpiece.

If your skills are more in event planning, there are also opportunities to plan and help out at this fun, festive gathering. Holiday tree show volunteers can sign up as committee members to plan, promote, and execute this event. We also need volunteers to help us set it up, work at the event, and break everything down afterwards.

How Volunteering with Habitat Changes Lives

Volunteering is a great way for you to make friends, learn new skills, do some networking, and make an impact in your community. And as a holiday tree show volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, you do more than that: You support initiatives that help people in our community transform their lives.

All of the funds raised at our holiday tree show directly support our work at Silver Creek Village in Park City, where Habitat for Humanity is currently building 26 affordable homes for local working families.

To thank you for all of your hard work, all holiday tree show volunteer decorators are invited to attend the closing night cocktail party on Saturday, December 7, at Utah Film Studios in Park City. All ages are invited to attend. The online auction will run from 1 pm Friday, December 6, through 6:30 pm Saturday, December 7.
