Our biggest annual fundraiser, the Overall Ball, broke records this year in both attendance and money raised to build affordable housing in Summit and Wasatch counties – and to bring awareness to the growing need for homes for working families in the Wasatch Back.
A Powerful Partnership Raises More Money for Our Local Workforce
For the first time, we partnered with the Park City Board of REALTORS on this event, combining their annual fundraiser, Hats Off to Community Housing, with our yearly ball.
“Our partnership with the Park City Board of REALTORS is a great example of what we can do when the community comes together to support housing affordability,” says Shellie Barrus, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Summit and Wasatch Counties. “We’re very appreciative of how they stepped up in such a big way to make a positive impact in our work.”
Sharing resources and combining guest lists with the Board helped us spread our message more broadly and made for a spectacular event. This year’s Overall Ball raised a record-breaking $222,000 for Habitat’s Homeownership Program, and 185 attendees gathered for this memorable evening to have fun and learn more about our mission.
"The Park City Board of REALTORS was proud to serve as a major sponsor for this year's Overall Ball,” says Jamie Johnson, CEO of the organization. “We trust that the Board's contributions will significantly aid Habitat in its ongoing mission to provide homes for those in need of affordable housing in our community. The event was delightful and effectively engaged the community in supporting affordable housing initiatives."
Highlights of the 2024 Overall Ball
This year’s Overall Ball took place on Saturday, June 15th, at Legacy Lodge at Park City Mountain. It began with an extended cocktail party featuring silent auction items and a few highly coveted prizes in the super silent auction. The party was also the place to meet and chat with Habitat homeowners and future homeowners; five families attended this year.
After the cocktail party came the VIP Overall Ball Dinner, featuring a gourmet three-course meal and a lively live auction in the Grand Room of Legacy Lodge. Auction items were generously donated by businesses, including Park City Jewelers, Barclay Butera Interiors, Alpine Distilling, Park City Mountain, Montage Deer Valley, and Park City Handyman Services, among many others. Several realtors also donated auction items such as a Tuscan dinner, NHL tickets, and a pheasant shooting experience.
At the live auction, hosted by emcee Kim Fischer, a St George stay, with a golf foursome thrown in to up the bids, had a competitive segment of guests raising their hands to win, including one guest who stood on his chair to increase his chances.
Another highlight of the event was the centerpiece auction, featuring flowering plants in a toy dump truck. One person at each table acted as auctioneer for their table to draw the highest bid out of their tablemates. One centerpiece sold for $500! The prize for the opportunity drawing, two nights at the luxury resort Sorrell River Ranch Resort & Spa in Moab, also drew a lot of interest and helped raise money for Habitat and to support our local workforce.
The dress code at the event was “Construction Glam”, and guests did not disappoint in their overalls and construction hat finery! One Habitat volunteer smartly shopped at the Park City ReStore for her fabulous pink and sparkly look. And Jamie Johnson dressed up her outfit with a fancy hat as a nod to her group’s Hats Off fundraiser and even switched hats a few times to add to the glamor.
