More than 200 guests dressed down in their best “construction glam” to attend the Overall Ball gala at Legacy Lodge at Park City Mountain on June 23.
The event raised a record-breaking $206,000 (with more donations still coming in) to help more families who work in and support Summit and Wasatch Counties buy safe and secure homes with affordable mortgages and fund home repair programs.
Raising Funds is Fun!
Live and silent auctions were highlights of the event as Auctioneer Zane Berry led a Fund-A-Need paddle raise that generated $78,000. Matching gifts of $30,000 from Habitat donors Tom and Barbara Steinmetz and Walter and Sandy Bennett got the evening off to a generous start.
“We’re so grateful for the generosity of our attendees and sponsors, and that they too, believe in the mission of Habitat for Humanity of Summit and Wasatch Counties,” said Executive Director Shellie Barrus. “Together, we transform the lives of families in our community by providing stable and affordable housing in our mountain towns.”
Entertainment and Recognition
Emcee Kim Fischer kept attendees entertained and enlightened them by sharing the challenges of homeownership in resort communities. The Habitat for Humanity Opening Doors video showcasing how Habitat is changing lives in our local communities provided additional insights regarding the profound needs of the working community.
Longtime corporate donor Just Right Heating & Cooling and owner Dan Dearden were recognized with the Golden Hammer Award for providing and installing HVAC systems in every home built by Habitat for Humanity of Summit and Wasatch Counties for the past several years.
Donated silent auction items featuring travel, culinary, and adventure packages allowed guests to additionally support Habitat for Humanity’s home builds and home repairs programs.
